Marathon runner (European Masters Champs) - MAURICE HEMINGWAY (M55) was 3rd GB athlete home (16th overall in the age group) with a time of 3hrs 53mins 18sec – GB finishing 4th in the team competition. The outstanding performance by Andy Moraghan (M35) with Silver in the 800m and Bronze in the 1500m helped the GB Masters team to second place on the medals table behind Germany. To add to the 800/1500 Andrew also took part in the relays where he helped the v35 team to a silver in the 4 * 100m relay and finally a gold in the 4 * 400m relay.

Well done

Many thanks for the comments here and by email about my European Masters Marathon. I am well pleased with the time despite it being 31 mins off my pb. Most people said their times were 30-35mins behind what they had hoped for in normal temperatures on this course. All the male winners times were 35 mins slower than the European Records and the women's were around one hour behind. Temp when we started at 08.00hrs was 28C and rose for the next two hours.
